Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Child snoring may not be as uncommon as you might think. According to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, one out of every ten children snore. Snoring, however, is not always a cause for concern in every child. Common risk factors for child snoring are enlarged tonsils, allergies, upper respiratory infections, asthma, sleep apnea, and nasal septum deviation. In cases where you notice consistent lack of quality sleep, extremely loud snoring, recurrent night snoring, abnormal sleeping positions and mouth breathing, or gasping for air or paused breathing during sleep, you should speak with a medical or dental professional as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In rare cases, newborns may suffer from laryngomalacia, a condition in which infants are born with a faulty voice box that collapses upon inhaling and produces a snoring sound. Other symptoms of laryngomalacia include sleep apnea, blue colored skin as a result of oxygen deprivation (cyanosis), trouble feeding and gaining weight, and an inward chest position when breathing. According to Colgate Professional, approximately 90% of cases resolve without treatment by 20 months old. If you suspect your newborn may be suffering from laryngomalacia, seek a health professional immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if your baby snores from time to time, it may not be a cause for concern. However, keep an eye out for certain symptoms as discussed which may warrant medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
